Zeiss LSM 980
Inverted laser scanning confocal microscope This confocal
is on an Axio Observer 7 inverted microscope. With the Airyscan 2
Module this microscope can scan images at high speed, comparable to
that of a spinning disc confocal. Airyscan 2 with 8Ymode is twice as
fast as Fast Airyscan mode on the LSM 880s. The Airyscan 2 module
allows for super-resolution microscopy and offers a superior signal
to noise ratio compared to a normal confocal. The confocal has a 32
channel GaAsP array with two flanking PMTs. The 32 channel GaAsP
detector allows for high speed spectral imaging. The Zen Blue
Software (version 3.2) allows for automated screening, image
analysis and the running of complex experiments. Part of this
functionality comes from the Guided Acquisition Module. The black
cage incubator allows for very light sensitive applications such as
Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy (FCS). The incubation chamber
provides complete environmental control: Regulating CO2,
O2, humidity and temperature. This microscope was
installed February 2021. Location: Beckman Institute Basement Room
B131.
